Event Description: The International Clean up is the largest clean up efforts of its kind.� Last year nearly 400,000 volunteers collected more than 6.8 million pounds of trash in 104 countries and 42 US States.� Right here in Chicago Shedd Aquarium�s Great Lakes conservation team adopted 12th Street Beach because we believe that clean lakes start with clean beaches.� Last year at 12th Street Beach our 50 volunteers collected 418 pounds of garbage and recyclables.� This effort helps keep our beaches and Great Lakes clean and safe for all to enjoy! This year�s clean up is on Saturday September 19 from 9:00 am � noon at 12th Street Beach in Museum Campus. The beach is located next to Adler Planetarium so parking is available in the Adler lot on Solidarity Drive. Shedd Aquarium�s Great Lakes conservation team provides all the materials needed for the three hour beach sweep. Gym shoes or sturdy sandals and weather appropriate outdoor clothes are suggested. Don�t forget water and sunscreen! Lunch will be provided by Aurelio�s Pizza!! We encourage you to come help care for the beach.
